Note on a case of homonymy in the pulmonate family Streptaxidae

Abstract

Gulella (Sinoennea) insularis Minato 1974 from Japan is a junior homonym of the West African Gulella insularis (Girard 1894). Is is suggested that the generic name Gulella should be confined to species of the Ethiopean Region. The Japanese species thus becomes Sinoennea insularis (Minato) and as such, is allowed to stand.
