In order to raise funds for the Society, and to help members to find books about shells and related subjects, and to dispose of unwanted books, the Society runs a book auction and sale.
The auction list for 2012 is now available with a closing date for bids (using the bid form) of 12th March. Postage and packing charges will be as for book sale books. Books that are unsold at auction will be included in the book sale list. Only members may bid.
Books from the book sale list can be bought at any time. Postage and packing costs are not included in the price; postage will be charged at cost, and packing at a flat £1 per package. We try to describe books accurately; books can be returned within seven days of receipt if not as described. Prices of unsold books will generally be reduced gradually until sold - so if you are unwilling to buy a book at its present price, it's always worth checking later to see whether the price has come down to what you are willing to pay. Non-members may buy books from the book sale list, but do not benefit from the members' discount.
If you have suitable books that you no longer need and would like us to sell for you, please contact Bas Payne at bas.payne@gmail.com or 01647 24515. The Society charges a commission of 10% for books that sell for £100 or more; and 20% for books that sell for less.
