Indoor Meetings

Indoor Meetings are usually held at the Natural History Museum, Cromwell Rd, London at intervals of four to six weeks, between September and May.  The main event at these meetings is usually a lecture by a guest speaker, or society member. Members are also encouraged to bring exhibits and there are opportunities for informal discussions, over tea, and to purchase Society goods and back publications. Meetings usually close at about 5.30pm.

Meetings are normally held on a Saturday, with longer meetings starting at 11am. in January and October that give members the opportunity to bring plenty of exhibits and hold small workshops or informal talks. In February, December and March/April shorter meetings [including the A.G.M.] are held, starting at 2pm. There are now only five indoor meetings each year held in London, but we try to hold at least one all-day locally organised regional meeting outside of London, possibly combined with some field work.

We also like to encourage members keen on holding or attending field meetings to consult with other interested members in their locality and with the Programme Secretary (contact details above) about mutually agreeable dates for holding such meetings.

Council meets in February, March/April and December preceding the indoor meetings, with an additional all-day Council meeting in September separate from the usual indoor meeting arrangements.
