An annotated list of the non-marine molluscs of Britain and Ireland

There has been an urgent need for some time to modernise the list in use in Britain and Ireland and which was last reviewed in the Journal of Conchology in 1976. This new list takes account of the various changes in non-marine molluscan nomenclature which have appeared in subsequent literature, especially since the development of the continental list through the EU funded Fauna Europaea project.

After extensive peer review Roy Anderson  produced "An annotated list of the non-marine mollusca of Britain and Ireland" (Journal of Conchology 2005, 38 (6) 607-637). The paper explains the nomenclatural basis for the changes and the new list will be used for the Conchological Society Non-marine recording scheme from 1st. January 2006.

The list as shown here is a reprint from the Journal of Conchology, 38 (6): 607–637, (published 2005) in a special cover, and may be obtained free of charge while stocks last, by sending  a stout stamped self addressed envelope (size at least 25 X 17.5 cm. and postage to cover 75gm.) with your request to:

It is anticipated that it will be necessary to update the list from time to time. All future updates will only be available online. The British Library has allocated ISSN 1753-2205 (Online) to the online publication.
